It is important to bring to your attention that the premium you pay may increase at each renewal because the chances of your pet getting ill increases as they age. This increase could be significant if a claim is made. Other factors that may increase or decrease your premium include taxation changes, rising veterinary treatment costs, inflation, an increase in the probability of further claims or any other changes that you have made during the year.
Please also note this is an annually renewable policy, the insurer has no obligation to offer further periods of insurance at renewal.
There is a policy excess applicable to each new condition your pet suffers with. This is the amount you must contribute towards the claim.
A Co-Payment is the amount you are required to pay towards the costs of the veterinary fees for every claim you make, in addition to the policy excess.
The Co-Payment and excess amounts are shown in your policy wording and on your certificate of insurance that we issued to you.
Examples of applicable co-payment amounts are as follows:
An example of how a claim would be calculated with a Co-Payment and Excess is as follows:

Corinium Pet Insurance are pleased to introduce you to a 24-hour, 7 day-a-week health triage, providing help and advice for your dog or cat. The service, which we refer to as the Corinium Pet Helpline is available to all policyholders and is provided by The Vet Connection.
We know that getting instant, qualified advice about your dog or cat's health is critical when you suspect there is something wrong. Our helpline offers round the clock access to a team of RCVS registered veterinary nurses every day of the year. The service includes webchat and telephone, either of which can escalate to a video call depending on the nature of the enquiry.
Should you need to contact the trained nurses you'll gain the reassurance of speaking to an expert, well versed in handling pet emergencies. Although each nurse must have a minimum of 3 years' experience at a practice, the average length time they've spent providing support is over 10 years. They can help determine whether a trip to your vet is necessary which is especially useful in the evening or at weekends when your usual vet may be closed.
Prevention is better than the cure, and it's usually cheaper too! The Corinium Pet Helpline can help you recognise the signs or symptoms of an illness, understand how to prevent certain diseases during your pet's lifetime, and save you money in the long run while keeping your pet happy and healthy.
